Circular Economy in Sultanate of Oman

Oman’s initiative to promote a Circular Economy is articulated in its Vision 2040 and Oman Energy Master Plan 2040. Both documents promote a Circular Economy in line with the needs of its people and consistent with the domestic climate change adaptation strategy as well as United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) (Al-Alawi, B. et al., 2020).

Circular Economy in Qatar

Circular Economy in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched the Carbon Circular Economy National Program to draw a comprehensive roadmap, which includes technological localization and advancement through the implementation of the Carbon Circular Economy. The program is the result of joint efforts by different stakeholders that worked on developing and implementing mechanisms that cover all technical, administrative, engineering, and normative aspects in order to achieve the strategic objectives of sustainable social and economic growth, promote integrated climate-change solutions, and ensure global leadership in the field of circular carbon economy.

Circular Economy in United Arab Emirates

United Arab Emirates issued the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2021– 2031. While the UAE is keen for all sectors to adopt circular economy principles, four priority sectors have been identified based on their current role in the national economy and on their potential for stimulating and developing a UAE Circular Economy. These are:

  • Sustainable manufacturing
  • Green infrastructure
  • Sustainable transportation
  • Sustainable food production and consumption
