Circular Economy Awards are non-competitive and based on qualifying scores: each Applicant who achieves the score defined by the Award criteria receives the Award. In one category multiple organizations can be recognised if they meet criteria.

To ensure objectivity, fairness, and independence in the assessment process, the Circular Economy Awards assessment and scoring process is developed based on the international standards and frameworks.

The main objective of the assessment is not only to evaluate, score and recognize the organizations’ effort, but also to provide value adding Feedback Report to Applicants to speed up their transition from Linear to Circular Economy.

Assessment process consists of the following steps:

  1. Assignment of Assessor(s) ensuring no conflict of interest.
  2. Desk top review of Applicant Submission.
  3. Conduct assessment – online and/or on site.
  4. Score each application and prepare Improvement Feedback Report.
  5. Compilation of the assessment results and presentation to Jury.
  6. Jury decides the organisations to be recognised.

The Award assessment is carried out by professionals competent in Circular Economy and Sustainability, in accordance with the Assessment methodology and applying systems thinking approach.

Assignment of the applications to Assessors ensures independence and excludes conflict of interest between the Assessor and the Applicant organization due to any reason which may influence the Assessor’s judgement or create undue bias. The information and documents received by Assessors from the Applicants are treated with confidence and discretion.

Jury Members

The Jury members are represented by senior management professionals and leaders in the fields of Circular Economy and Sustainability from different parts of the world. As the ambassadors of the Circular Economy Awards, they ensure objectivity, professionalism, integrity and high standards.

To maintain confidentiality of the Applicant information, Jury members sign Non-Disclosure Agreement and the Undertaking of Commitment guaranteeing security of the Applicant data and information.

Lijin Chin Lijin Chin UK Lijin is the founding chairperson of Circular Business Association, an ecosystem builder aimed at building a profitable circular economy to accelerate the transition to circular economy and solve the climate crisis. Anne Rademaker Anne Rademaker Netherlands Anne Rademaker is a passionate Circular Economy practicing professional since 2013. Anne drives the transition taking a global mindset and supports clients in various countries and sectors. She is a mentor of Oxford students in the World Economic Forum program Lead for Sustainability. She teaches at universities and has published a book. Dr Serhan S Alshammari Dr Serhan S Alshammari Saudi Arabia Dr Serhan Alshammari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Engineering at the University of Ha’il, Saudi Arabia. He pursued his PhD from Cranfield University in the UK at The Sustainable Manufacturing Systems Centre investigating reverse logistics as a CE enabler, he also participated as an academic lead in co. project for Ellen MacArthur Foundation for Circular Economy.
